We do, one's just unused.
Reminds me of Spiral Knights, with the helmets with multiple slots for accessories; top, side, front and back.

Anywhere that isn't detected as an existing biome is referred to as UNKNOWN, which is mainly restricted to areas away from the mainland such as flying over the slime/sand sea. But interestingly there is a "Slime Sea" biome which only gets used in a few locations. Going along the islands to Moustache Island being one of them.
An established zone intended to be hidden from the map completely (Like The Wilds, the interiors of The Vaults, etc) will have the icon replaced with a question mark pointing to the origin zone of The Dry Reef. This is because their true locations are in rather random areas of the game map, which unload when you're away from them.
