That is, you never said where the sea on the outside is no longer traversable. I suppose one could use the boring method of putting an invisible wall around everything, but otherwise, you need to make either a wall that somehow the boat can go through, but you can't, or an area where the sea turns back into Slime Sea.
...Unless the freshwater is all surrounded by the land you arrive at, and I just failed to glean that from your post. That's always possible, too.
Otherwise, it'd be cool, though they'd have to make the existing freshwater use the air tank, too.... In that case, 30 seconds might be insufficient for someone exploring the Moss Blanket and accidentally falling in (since you move slower). Maybe 45 seconds would be better?

What made you think these were strawberries?

I'm pretty sure that they are fruit.
Oh and.
From now on.
I'll never ask you for berries and ice cream...

Those who had unlocked the Lab may have noticed a gadget spot, but seemingly nothing could be placed on it. That is, until you craft the Boat Repair Droid (which looks like
a little toolbox) for:
3 Boom plorts
3 Rad plorts
3 Honey plorts
3 Wild Honey
3 Indigonium
3 Deep Brine
Place this gadget onto the boat and it will expand into a little robot and get to work on the boat, which will be ready in 24 in-game hours. When it done, it will dissapear and you can press E to hop in the boat and the autopilot will suddenly activate, setting course for the Purewater Isles.

The Purewater Isles
"Hey, why not take a dip? Uh, no, we're not in the Slime Sea anymore..."
Far off the shore of the Dry Reef, lies a bright, sunshiny atoll-surrounded archipelago called the Purewater Isles. This island chain is one of the largest sources of fresh water on the Range.
The porous rocks that surround the Isles seem to filter the Slime out of the Sea, making it a great place for slimes to hang out. Being in the tropics of the Range, the weather of this area often changes dramatically, often ending in storms. These storms often churn up the water and toss things around, so you must be careful not to get tossed into the Slime Sea. However, these storms also often churn up the water of the surrounding sea, often creating the floaty Bubble Slimes.

You can swim in the water using a modified jetpack that is built in to the normal upgrade, however you can only swim for a short swim for 30 seconds before you must come up to breathe. You can also buy the Air Tank upgrade to extend your breathing time to 3 minutes.
The Isles consist of a forest island with trees and many fruits, a rocky and sandy island with many veggies and chickens, and many smaller islets, with coral reefs and kelp forests in the waters.
