The Purewater Isles

At the other end of the bridge connecting the Dry Reef and the Moss Blanket, you might spot a small, broken-down motorboat. Those who had unlocked the Lab may have noticed a gadget spot, but seemingly nothing could be placed on it. That is, until you craft the Boat Repair Droid (which looks like
a little toolbox) for:
3 Boom plorts
3 Rad plorts
3 Honey plorts
3 Wild Honey
3 Indigonium
3 Deep Brine
Place this gadget onto the boat and it will expand into a little robot and get to work on the boat, which will be ready in 24 in-game hours. When it done, it will dissapear and you can press E to hop in the boat and the autopilot will suddenly activate, setting course for the Purewater Isles.

Slimepedia entry

The Purewater Isles

"Hey, why not take a dip? Uh, no, we're not in the Slime Sea anymore..."

Far off the shore of the Dry Reef, lies a bright, sunshiny atoll-surrounded archipelago called the Purewater Isles. This island chain is one of the largest sources of fresh water on the Range.

The porous rocks that surround the Isles seem to filter the Slime out of the Sea, making it a great place for slimes to hang out. Being in the tropics of the Range, the weather of this area often changes dramatically, often ending in storms. These storms often churn up the water and toss things around, so you must be careful not to get tossed into the Slime Sea. However, these storms also often churn up the water of the surrounding sea, often creating the floaty Bubble Slimes.

End Slimepedia entry

You can swim in the water using a modified jetpack that is built in to the normal upgrade, however you can only swim for a short swim for 30 seconds before you must come up to breathe. You can also buy the Air Tank upgrade to extend your breathing time to 3 minutes.

The Isles consist of a forest island with trees and many fruits, a rocky and sandy island with many veggies and chickens, and many smaller islets, with coral reefs and kelp forests in the waters.

Slimes:
Pink slime (Everywhere)
Rock Slime (Rock island and Islets)
Tabby Slime (Forest island and islets)
Phosphor Slime (Everywhere at night)
Boom Slime (Forest Island)
Honey Slime (Islets)
Puddle Slime (Water)
Puff Slime (Water)
Octo Slimes (Water)
Bubble Slimes (Everywhere after a storm)

Resources:
Carrot (Rock Island and islets)
Pogofruit (Forest Island and islets)
Hen Hen (Rock Island and islets)
Heart Beet (Rock Island)
Cuberry (Forest Island)
Stony Hen (Rock Island)
Spiradish(Rock Island)
Spongeberries (Islets)
Tune-a (Rivers)

Interesting idea, but there's one little thing that makes it not-so practical: You never defined an outer limit. That is, you never said where the sea on the outside is no longer traversable. I suppose one could use the boring method of putting an invisible wall around everything, but otherwise, you need to make either a wall that somehow the boat can go through, but you can't, or an area where the sea turns back into Slime Sea.

...Unless the freshwater is all surrounded by the land you arrive at, and I just failed to glean that from your post. That's always possible, too.

Otherwise, it'd be cool, though they'd have to make the existing freshwater use the air tank, too.... In that case, 30 seconds might be insufficient for someone exploring the Moss Blanket and accidentally falling in (since you move slower). Maybe 45 seconds would be better?

Puff Slime

I'll huff and I'll puff...

The Puff Slime is an aquatic Slime found in The Purewater Isles.

Slimeology

Puff Slimes, like Puddle Slimes, have a larger water content than most slimes, so they require this water supply to be replenished regularly, but not as much so as Puddles. They seem to realize this, and they will regularly try to refresh themselves in water. This water seems to give it heightened awareness somehow, but this may be a bit too much awareness.

Rancher Risks

Because of this heightened senses, Puff Slimes become very skittish and neurotic. They have the ability to puff themselves up, extending out its spikes and bouncing around uncontrollably. However, this defense maneuver is often activated when the slime is startled, so one must be careful around them, and not put them near slimes like Boom Slimes. The spines on a Puff Slime are capable of doing massive damage if many of them are bouncing around at a time.

Plortnomics

Puff Plorts puff up to 5 times their normal size when hit, making them great for airbags and such.

Spongeberries

"Sometimes you just gotta suck it up."

Spongeberries are fruits that can be found in the Purewater isles.

Type:
Fruit
Favored By:
Puff Slime
On the Ranch:
Deposit some Spongeberries into a garden's depositor and you'll grow a large Spongeberry tree of your own. This tree will last for several harvests.

Spongeberries have many, many holes on their surface which allow them to suck up large amounts of water, appropriately. Normally, they are disgustingly sweet and tart, but when splashed with water, the taste is diluted and they become perfect. Slimes will obviously only eat them when wet.
