I have been looking into puddle gordos. I find them hard to believe exist for long because puddle slimes could only gather in water, but a puddle gordo would be in the water and burst quickly. Perhaps they could be snared. Unfortunately, the standard gordo snare does not hold water.

Puddle largos are something that have been looked down on as a form of 'cheating'. However, I believe that puddle largos may be beneficial if kept in secret. They could also increase the risk of Tarr.

To do list:
~Tweak the gordo snare
~Genetically engineer a puddle slime/plort

I have been trying to figure out why slimes come in different types.
Research has proven that each slime contains a special gene that determines their type.

So far I have discovered P-K, R-K, T-B, and P-S.

Examining Honey, Boom, and Hunter now!
Quantum tangles are the hardest slimes to ranch.

But who can say no to that cute little face?

Day 1
I have made a Special Gordo Snare that will hold water, ash, and generate electricity. It will also keep it flowing in a trickle so the gordo doesn't run out of time. I have placed water in the one, ash in the other, and electricity in the final one. I have placed them all in the Dry Reef on Ring Island.

Day 2
No luck

Day 3
Puddle gordo has come! No luck with the other two though.

Final Analasis
The puddle gordo has come to the gordo snare, but the others haven't. Perhaps it is a coincidence, or perhaps the other slimes just can't make it.

To do list:
~Genetically modify puddle slime/plort
~Place SGS (special gordo snare) in Glass Desert (during a Firestorm) and in Nimble Valley.
~Tweak SGS to hold Newbucks (Lucky Gordo)
~If successful, put SGS onto the Builder's Shop to make a profit

Have you forgotten the Trakeyavinski Theory? I'm rather sure it seems to suit the slimes more.

Explorations into Supradual Largoes and Subsequent Creations

Postby TheGreciansHousehold » Wed Apr 04, 2018 6:37 am

Day 1
After scanning the genome of various slime and largo types and their coincidences with some tarr material I captured last Tuesday, I discovered the prominent occurence of the gene TAG-β. After deactivating the gene in a pink slime (Limus animalia rosea), I discovered that the subject could be fed more than one foreign plort to form supradual largoes, implying that the gene controlled genetic data within limoanimaraens. After subsequent scans, I found that TAG-β's sister gene TAG-α similarly stopped limoanimaraens from discharging their matter upon largo formation; when disabled, a new pink slime specimen remained the same size when fed a foreign plort, ejecting 3 pink plorts instead.

These two genes can henceforth theoretically be used to form unique slime breeds, opening a new realm of designer limoanimaraens. I have sent a DIGI message to my close friend Jiene Martins, who specialises in designer slimes, with hope of designing a test specimen for display.

Will update soon.
- Dr. Kiel Kaniver

NOTE: All specimens used in these experiments have been returned to the Slime Sea, resetting their genetic code. No limoanimaraens have been harmed in this investigation.

Interesting! I tried a similar technique to complete the 3rd of your list. It seems that the Slime Sea will refuse to eject Limus animalia argentii in the vicinity of such a device.

Perhaps a method to trap L. a. argentii and migrate to the snare could be effective?

An elaborate (or simple) trap where a lucky slime is lured, or scooped, into some sort of shipping container should do the trick. We must also find a way to stop them from disappearing.

Puddle Plort
I had succeeded in modifying the plort, and promptly fed it to a slime. It worked out fine for just a few moments, being a Pink Puddle Largo, but it tried to move and quickly collapsed into a monstrosity. It was not a Tarr, it just turned into a puddle of pinkish goo with an upset looking face on it. I have returned all of it that I could scrape off the ground to the Slime Sea.

I'm working on ways to use Plorts as fuel for vehicles to transport ranchers and materials. I'll keep you all posted on my research. I have done 1 day already:

Day 1 proves no luck. I have tried mixing Quantum Plorts with some ashes from an incinerator, but all it does it make the glow of the Quantum Plort brighter. I am using Synthetic Metal, made from Quicksilver Plorts, as my main vehicle material.

I have been developing a theory for some time now, about the way slimes are formed, that I call "The Slime Cycle". I believe that slime from the slime sea somehow collects around genetic material, and forms to make slimes, sometimes seeping into the rock (Which may explain why slimes can be seen appearing from certian rock formations). Slime hop around until they fall back in the sea, which recycles the slime, or transform into Tarr, who eventually explode and scatter their slime around, which seeps back into the sea. Now this is just a wild guess, of course, but I am currently trying to figure out where this genetic material originates from. If anyone else can help research or disprove this theory, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have a theory that plorts are simply compressed, dormant slimes. I have proved this by further tweaking of the puddle plort. Once fed to a pink slime, it splits into a pink slime and a puddle slime. The puddle slime produced the same plorts that was fed to the pink slime.

Day 2:

I have found that mixing Qauntum Plorts with Pudde Plorts make the plort shoot away, splitting up again. My theory is that Qauntum plorts react to water. If I can utilize this, maybe I can make the Quantum Plorts push forward the vehicles. Anyone got any ideas?

I have seen a few weird columns in the bottom of the Slime Sea. (Not actually in game.) Maybe they have something to do with it? They are rounded, with an open top. Sometimes I see a weird bluish smoke coming from them too.

Perhaps if we can find a way to explore the Slime Sea we could find out exactly how slimes are made. Furthermore, we might find an 'empty' slime (a slime that doesn't have the DNA to define what slime it is.

Empty Slime Theory
from Dr. Joseph Devilli-Seth
to Dr. Kiel Kaniver

Dear Dr. Kaniver,
I hope you are well.
I want you to know that I have developed a new theory, a slime that only has base DNA. Perhaps we could retrieve one in my specialized submarine. We would have to be quick though, because the pressure under the Slime Sea is immense and the walls of the submarine would burst if we went under for much more than two minutes. I would like you to come along too, and feel free to bring along any friends. The submarine is quite large.

From Dr. Joseph Devilli-Seth

PS: I am working on a smaller submarine that will be more durable.

im getting some subnatica vibes here

Dr. Xenvion
PhD in slimology

my work is based around changing the forms of the so-called Frisbee shaped slimes. i have tried to tweak its genetic formula, with no results alas. but i have hope! with a little bit of help from my fellow slimologists we will create a land puddle slime, fire slime, quicksilver slime.

TEST 1
after modifying the genome and nucleus of a fire slime i have discovered the fire slimes are not slime at all!
the fire slime body is mostly composed of ash and a highly flammable material that is non harmful, it has been naturally found in the pepper jam ( delicious by the way) that is why the jar appears to be on fire. the fire slime is composed of suspended ash and the highly flammable material. due to to the fact that they are composed of pretty much gasoline and ash im not sure if its safe to try mixing it with other slimes

the flammable material is like gasoline but 1000 times as more potent once lit it has the potential to destroy the barn or even worse the range itself!

seeing as though boom slimes explode very often if a fire boom largo were to be alive it would be the catalyst of a much bigger explosion comparable to the atomic bomb.

Sorry it's been so long! I have found several interesting things.

First of all, in responce to scientist Kiel, it seems that there are more than 1 type of gene within a slime! This is fascinating research.

I have recently discovered H-Y, B-M, and H-R.

I will be looking into the slimes of the indigo quarry next.

Also, poor puddle pink largo. RIP.

Dear Dr. Joseph Devilli-Seth,

I have developed a special serum for taking the DNA genes from the slimes for examination. For example, using it on a Pink Slime would give you Pink DNA genes. I was thinking that it might be useful for your experiments. I'd be happy to give you some.

I have decided to partake in this charade of yours. I have recently found a genome in the puddle and fire slimes that either allows them to have their liquid-like substance or disallows them to become gordos. I will look into this more. i have conducted extensive largo reaserch and i have found that when a slime is largoed the slime unbinds and its gellatin shell expands

the normal slimes contains enough slime material to make a largo the slime material is compacted down observed in quantum slimes

i will resume my Frisbee slime largo research

Ayy, Doctor Jason here with some breaking research

Thanks to modifying a snare causing only slimes to get stuck on it, I've been able to achieve this:
Image
(With a mustache too so it'll look cool)
This is a Tarr gordo, once impossible but now possible! Differently from normal tarr slimes, it doesn't automatically die without eating slimes. However, it only consumes slimes and chickens, as it for some reason no longer eats ranchers, and has somehow lost the ability to use the "tentacle" ability all tars have. Here's footage of what it looks like when it bursts (It even makes a unique face different from most gordos!)

Im good friends with emeraldplay, who's a Slime rancher modding god.
