Slime Rancher Demo?

Postby Kozzer33 » Sat May 28, 2016 2:45 pm

I've had a discussion with someone about my specs and if I can run this or not, and I really want to make sure my fps will be at a rate that I can consider acceptable, so a little demo would be awesome!

In this topic, which was about prototype testing of Slime Rancher, it says that a demo would be available at a later date, but when - we don't know exactly.

Since there's no demo available, you can always check minimal specs written on the game's Steam page.

Maybe just a bit of the dry reef and the main ranch? just some corral and a farm maybe, gives you a glimpse of how the game works and the slimes you can play with.

We'd still love to get a demo out but there's a few things proving challenging in doing so. Namely, chopping out large portions of the game world in a way that let's the player know there's plenty more in the full release, but they just can't access it in the demo.

We can't simply put a timer on the full game like you can on console since players could just mod the game to remove the timer. And we can't just eliminate whole zones either or the world will look very small and might discourage purchasing the game. It's proving to be tricky.

what about simply being unable to save?
If you want a Gordo as big as possible before starting to tremble, feed it 21 of any food that isn't its favorite!

People would NEVER close down the game, they would just keep it up as long as they want.

well it's not really good to have a game running 24/7 like that. besides, some pc update would probably auto-restart at some point. maybe no slime keys from gordos or available upgrades for the vacpack? (to avoid jetpacking pas gates) or visable but not purchasable just to show what's in the game.
