Many people have probably thought about this before. I call it the pallet expander. It would add 2 more slots to the hot bar for unique items. Here is a pretty bad photoshop of what it could look like. I'm sure other people could do a lot better. I have the photoshop in Imagur here http://imgur.com/a/PlBDG

Not bad, I normally range with lots of different items, but that idea is reasonable

I think if they added this it would have to be a little more balanced. Like for example the first upgrade could make it so you can carry the same item in two different slots then it could add a slot that can hold half your maximum capacity then a full slot over time.
