Slime Pixel Art

Postby SpeedXaaa » Thu Mar 17, 2016 5:08 pm

Hey there! So I got hooked on Slime Rancher the other day. Yesterday I discovered the forums here. Looked around for fan-created slimes, and while a lot of ideas and designs are recurring, I found a lot of interesting ones.
Image
I was playing around a little bit, here. Obviously Slimes are very simple in design, so I wanted to really emphasize on the shading. I went for a mix between the official style and a soft, anti-aliased look.

I really didn't care about the colors in this much...the Puddle and Pink have 15, but the Phosphor has 25!
Figured since most slimes are monochrome, I'd have a little fun with that. I actually did try hue-shifting like I usually do, but it doesn't actually work for this soft style. Had fun with anti-aliasing here, as you can tell with the Phosphor slime. Lawl

Thank you very much! Just finished the Tabby.

I also MIGHT take requests for 50x50 pixel icons of slimes sometime in the future. I dunno. In the meantime, have a template:

Very awesome! Though in this forums, avatars are 90x90. So 50x50 might not be much of a use :)
EDIT:
I love how the picture name was called "cute_lil_squishies" xD

Thank you! I don't really intend for them to be used, just pretty to look at.

Oh, wait, do you mean the 50x50s? 50x50 icons are DeviantART-friendly and could very well be used in signatures here. :>

Hahah, I'm not very creative with titles so I like to get silly whenever I can.

I'm not really sure how the Tabby took longer than the Rock one. xD

Ah.
Well i'm not much of a deviantart fan (Because of the horrific community... And i can't draw well.)
so i wouldn't know anything about that, lol.
Keep on working on those slimes! I'm sure alot more views will come to this topic :)
EDIT, again:
If your meaning by here, you can't post pictures in signatures here sadly. So yeh..

Actually, DeviantART really isn't that bad. Just like with any other website, you've just gotta be out of the "bad" parts. A lot of the time you have to go out of your way to get around to the negative parts of DA.

Oh, I see! Well, isn't that curious. :o

And thank you, I certainly will!

Thank you! I've come this far, so yeah I'm definitely completing them. xD There's 2 or 3 more I'm wanting to do: Gold, Rad, and Hunter. Then maybe the Largo slimes if I feel up to it. I'll have to make an entirely new template for them, but oh well!

Edit: I do pixel art streams about three times a week; next one is in 15 minutes (5:30 PM CDT) if anyone is interested.

Since I guess bumping threads and making multiple threads for almost the same purpose is a thing here, then...

Edit: And there we go! Done.

Not that I have a problem with that kind of forum management, just I'm used to more organized forums is all. :P

Wow, these put my Pixel Rancher post to shame XD These are so adorable and well-drawn! If these don't take much time to draw, you could probably open up a board making pixel art of other people's fan-created slimes ^o^
I'm a couple of days late saying this, but welcome to the forums! :D
Sorry if I ever come off a little rude. I'm a bit of a tsundere.

Thanks! That isn't necessarily true, though. :P I've been working with and creating pixel art since I was only 11. In retrospect, even now I wish that for all these years I've been working with this medium I would work only to improve rather than to further my own projects and my own enjoyment. Ah well; I never really aspired to be a professional. Just a hobbyist. Though maybe one day; who knows! TL;DR: even after I've been working on this for so long, I know I could be at a MUCH higher level than I am now. Oh well!

These ones do take quite some time, hence why I'm only taking 50x50 icon requests atm xD

I'm not secretly a honey tabby largo using its squishy bottom to type in human language.

I'm also a big fan of roleplay!

I wonder why you're reading this big block of text. Are you bored?

I really like the art style. It looks amazing!

Out of curiosity- what program did you use to make these?
