Fix for Slime rancher not working after quitting on ubuntu

Hello everyone.

so today I got slime rancher :D
but there was one issue, on Ubuntu(I am using 15.10 and this pay apply to other linux distros aswell) after you quit a game slime rancher will fail to load after a black screen when trying to lunch.

I found a fix for this, it would be annoying to do it over and over, so I will post a tutorial on how to fix it(well, until the developers fix this than my work will go to waste but I'd rather help)

lets begin!
so the first thing you want to do is navigate to ~/.config/unity3d/Monomi Park/Slime Rancher
now that you have that, copy the file named "prefs" and keep it on your clipboard.
now that you have it, go to our desktop and right click the launcher for slime rancher(if you haven't got one simply right click slime rancher in your steam library and click "create desktop shortcut") and select "properties". keep that window open, we will need this in a second

now, open a terminal window(ctrl+alt+t OR through your system menu)
and paste in this command:
Code: Select all
gnome-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/Desktop

a window will pop up and it might look confusing or familiar, here you can chose the icon, name, description and everything. enter the name as "slime rancher"
for the command, Type in
Code: Select all
 sh -c "rm

paste the file you copied earlier (remember to add a "\" before any spaces)and add
Code: Select all
  ; steam steam://rungameid/433340 "

in the top left you can chose whatever icon you like, i just chose an image i found on google( the image must not be moved)

now you simply press "ok"

keep in mind that you will always have to go through the shortcut in order for this to work, but other than that should have no problems

anyway I hope this helps and someone finds it useful, i think the issue is with unity not selecting an existing monitor or something but who am i to judge?

update: ty to whoever moved this thread to technical support <3
update 2: now i fixed it and it should work

Hey thank you for posting the link in my thread,
but i cant run this command:
gnome-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/Desktop
Tried to install gnome-desktop-item-edit, but it wont let me,
i think, its because im running unity enviroment.
But thank you anyways.

Hello

I try to run the game slime rancher for my son, but black screen for a few second
and nothing else
The Os of the computer is ubuntu 16.04
I try to do your tutorial but I don't have the file "prefs" on ~/.config/unity3d/Monomi Park/Slime Rancher
So, maybe that's the cause nothing append

Thank's for help

I've got the icon, but doubleclicking it doesn't do anything. Could you please PM me the full text of what's supposed to go in the command line so I can double check that I copied everything right?
