Unable to load game file??

i just opened my game and apparently my file is too old to use? the last time i played it was a couple weeks ago, shortly after either 1.0.1b or c, so i dont think the files age is really the issue. is this fixable? this file had around 100 hours of playtime on it, and i was really close to getting all the 7zee reward levels and filling out the slimepedia, so id really like to get it back

The error text is misleading, your save file was corrupted. Apparently this has been going on for a long time, and the developer hasn't fixed the underlying issue, nor found a workaround. If you look through this forum or the one on Steam, you'll find tons of threads just like this, and as far as I've seen there's never been any official reply. Sad really, it's a fun game, until stuff like this happens.
