You should play the game again, there's no need to be scared by such a rare thing, it never happened to me and I already put something like 30 hours into playing the game. Although, yeah, devs should do something so this wouldn't happen anymore, such as making backups of save files.
EDIT: Oh, and about the corruptions, I'll explain it a bit more - you see, every time when you quit the game or you save your savefile, the game overwrites the previous copy of it. When the game is interrupted while it does that, the savefile hasn't been fully overwritten, and there's not enough info in it for the game to run it, and it becomes corrupted. Backups, even though with them you'd lose a bit of progress, they would be reliable since you won't lose it entirely.
