gamepad not fully working?

Hello!
I am experiencing trouble with my gamepad after updating the game. Only the left stick is now working and none of the other buttons/etc are recognized by the game at all. Keyboard functions work, but I do not own a mouse and prefer to play with my gamepad.

I have windows 10, and an xbox 360 wired controller.

Things I have tried:
Testing the gamepad on different USB slots
Testing the gamepad in windows to make sure it is working properly (it is)
Making sure the drivers for the gamepad are up to date (they are)
Uninstalling and reinstalling Slime Rancher

So it seems that the gamepad itself is working just fine, just not within Slime Rancher. If while I'm playing I press the xbox button it brings up the xbox mini screen that I can scroll through with any of the gamepad buttons and everything works just fine within the mini screen, but still not in the game itself.

Any advice or troubleshooting would be so greatly appreciated! I don't really know that much about gaming and/or anything involving gamepads so it could very well be super obvious to everyone but me! I really want to get back to enjoying this game and explore the new update, but I can't play enjoyably without the use of my gamepad!
