Save file inaccessable

Postby BlackCurtains » Sun Jul 10, 2016 2:30 pm

I recently started playing again (on Steam) after a break and started a new game, but I get this message after only a few moments. The thing is, the game does save, because when I quit and restart it's at the same place I was when the message occurred. I didn't encounter this in earlier versions but I haven't played since before the Quarry update - so I'm unsure what exactly caused it.

It makes playing impossible since it pops up maybe 45 seconds after starting and I have to quit. I've tried reinstalling through Steam & verifying my files. I've tried playing in Safe Mode. None of these have made a difference.

Hi there,

There's two man causes for this error:

1) Steam was launched using the "Run as Administrator" option and the save file now requires administrator level privileges to update.
2) There's no room left on the disk to wirte a new save.

Here's how you and fix it if (1) is the problem. This will use the Steam Cloud to re-populate your saves.
1) Close Slime Rancher if it is running
2) Press the Windows Key + R to open Run
3) In Run type "%appdata%/../LocalLow/Monomi Park" without the quotes and press Enter
4) The file browser should open and show the Slime Rancher save data folder
5) Right-click the "Slime Rancher" folder and select "Send to... > Compressed (zipped) folder"
6) After the ZIP is complete delete the "Slime Rancher" folder only. Leave the ZIP alone in case the Steam cloud does not work.
6) Launch Slime Rancher, Steam will take a moment to download your saves from the Steam Cloud and re-populate everything.
7) Play the game like normal! Happy ranching!
