Help for your technical issues with Slime Rancher

Ubuntu Linux (Gnome) GUI missing parts.

Postby AmandaC » Thu Feb 25, 2016 1:08 pm

Hey! I got slime Rancher on steam and are having some fun, albeit less than I could be.

The GUI is invisible in some places for some reason, and I'm basically just fumbling around int he darkness of the GUI to play.

The attached ZIP contains some screenshots of the affected GUI.

Looking forward to continue ranching, and hope to hear back soon.

I also submitted a f2 bug report last night about this, but I figured I could post here as well. :)

Yes, welcome Amanda... sorry you're having troubles.
Can you please tell us more about your system specs? Graphics card? VRAM? Processor? etc.
Thank you for submitting the bug report via F2 as well.

Amanda, please try switching from full screen to windowed view or vice-versa in the game options and let us know if this resolves your issue.

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, it seems my assumption that I'd get email notifications for this thread was mis-founded.

It appears to be a resolution issue of some kind. Turning it from fullscreen -> windowed didn't work, but when switching it back it went 800x600 things appeared, at least the resolution drop-down, then when I tried turning it back to 1440x900 the stuff promptly disappeared again.

This is a mid-2013 macbook air, with the OS replaced by Ubuntu (long, annoying story).

If there's anything else I can do to help, please feel free to say.

EDIT: Logic fixes.

I have the same problem, reported it in the Steam Community but doesn't seem like it's been read by a developer.

Also, changing the resolution or turning of fullscreen doesn't help here.

Thanks for the update Amanda, glad this somewhat improved your experience anyway.

Eeek, that sounds -awful-.

Welcome to our community jplatte, have you tried vice-versa?

We've looked into it and it's known bug with the game's engine itself, affecting far more games than just Slime Rancher. The good news is there is hope that upcoming future updates of the engine software will help to resolve this. For now the best work around was the one stated earlier:

please try switching from full screen to windowed view or vice-versa in the game options

Yeah, fullscreen was the setting I was on before.

What engine are you using? Can you link the bug report about this? Thanks.
