Appreciate it Waffle that you took my feedback as the criticism it is. (Thank god for no flames here lol) And yea...I write a lot :)
The way I'm looking for the game to move forward is about improving the core gameplay : Slime Ranching. That's why my daughter and I are overly excited to get Drones. I can imagine having those in late game and getting your farm going efficient. But expanding on that main theme - getting more slimes...mixing and breeding, selling plorts, building ranches (maybe external ranches to maintain?), exploring new areas to bring things back to your ranch (functional or cosmetic), or even cause stories in those areas by bringing in foreign elements. THAT is what I thought Slime Rancher is about (at least from all the dev talks I've listened to). Agreed, the race is a great escape, and no - as I mentioned it's a great way for the devs to experiment, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not the Slime Rancher I feel I've been playing. I've unfortunately not touched it since the update, and was hoping this would pull me back in for hours like the last one did. Even though I did all the content with the Sabers in about the same amount of time, it caused us to have more to experiment with in the game. I'm right with you that I love isolated worlds, but if it has no impact on my main game, and very very little reason for me to spend lots of time in that isolated world? Then why have it as part of the game?
As to the Chicken Coops though, I agree, you COULD do the one offs and go get them early in the game, but it's not intuitive. A new player to the game isn't going to know to go do the "racing minigame" in order to get the VERY needed upgrade for their farm. At least with the Sabers those garden upgrades are not needed....they're just bonus during end game making farming easier. So if you happen to not discover them until late game, big deal. This new chicken coop? This is what we've been looking for since day 1 unfortunately for chickens. I did play with it a bit, and it will absolutely make it viable now to hold single slimes for chickens, or largos that need chickens. They grow fast enough that you can maintain the hunger now. So that's why my feeling is that they should be more of a part of the "main game" and not something you find in a side mission.
