2. step on the pink thing if the overgrowth is blocked
3. find the hidden valley passage and will get the big tree without slime key

If I recall, Hidden Valley is actually the area near the Tabby Gordo, near the path leading to The Moss Blanket. And Big Tree is straight out of The Ranch to the right (left leads to The Hub). You don't need a Slime Key to get to either location.
