Concerning the 25k key

Does anyone know what the key you buy for 25k is used for?
Is it just there for people who can't find the last key to the last vault?

VAULT ONE: Moss blanket, end of Feral Path
VAULT TWO: Indigo Quarry, Ash Isle, near Crystal Gordo
VAULT THREE: Dry Reef, Ring Island, at very top
