Will there be humans/aliens that visit(is there a story?)

Since it kind of has a animal crossing vibe to it a bit I was wondering if there will be other farmers or people that come to your planet every so often that you can talk with or give you stuff or bring slimes from other planets to yours? or is this just a open sandbox games where you just do anything, curious about what kind of story substance or random events that may occur in this ga,e

There is a little bit of story with the letter system, but i think that's all right now. I'd really love it if they added some vague storyline.

Roadmap says they're giving the character backstory, so I assume there'll be a story.

All that we really have right now is the trade system, which informs us about the other ranchers that are out there. Also, the system includes messages from the other ranchers, giving a bit of backstory to them.

I guess I'm not the only one who'd love to trade resources w/ my pals and to check their ranches as well. But if devs are going to stick with their original idea of having like 5-8 bots to email you premade messages and send you trade requests there's not much I can suggest. Singleplayer only eh.

I would kind of love it if there was another AI rancher around you could technically compete with for the best ranch in your game, it could be randomized each time with a different personality set, a few interesting things they could do outside of those letters, i hope they expand on it.
