How to level up?

How do I level up in this game? How do I get to open the purple balls? Also how do you level up science stuff? like better gordo snares and extractors? thank you

You have to build more devices (100 for purple) to unlock the treasure crackers

You get better snares and extractors by crafting stuff and finding blueprints in treasure pods.

There aren't levels as such. As you do different things in the game, upgrades become available from the shop just down the ramp from your house. More energy, more space in your vacpack etc.
