Slime Rancher Development Roadmap

Postby Nick » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:16 pm

The following is a broad roadmap of what we expect to develop for future content updates. In between these updates there will likely be minor updates, bugfixes and other tweaks.

Please note that the development roadmap is subject to change (especially content scheduled further out!) and does not include everything in development for Slime Rancher. Additionally, the updates listed below may be released in multiple stages.

v1.2.0 - Mochi's Megabucks Update
Nimble Valley
Partner with Mochi Miles in a STRICTLY BUSINESS capacity to corner the market on quicksilver slime plorts! Explore the Nimble Valley, a wholly-owned property of Miles Corp, and earn unique rewards from your boss, THE Mochi Miles.

The experience in the Nimble Valley is very different from anything else in Slime Rancher, offering an action-packed race through the valley as you attempt to feed a herd of dozens of quicksilver slimes with blasts of electric charges.

Quicksilver Slimes
Why doesn't the rest of the world know about quicksilver slimes? Why are they ONLY located in the Miles-owned Nimble Valley? I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Rush Mode
The 5-Day Rush is getting an overhaul, including a name change! Rush Mode shares the same goal as the 5DR in that it's a race to get as many newbucks as you can in a limited period of time. However, Rush Mode introduces a variable time limit, that can be extended through smart, efficient play. It will also feature a few bonus offerings out on the range to encourage mixing up ranching with exploring.

Please note that while we expect high scores to completely change, 5DR world records posted online will be preserved as Rush Mode scores will be distinguishable.

v1.3.0 - The Automatic Update
Adorable drones will be added to Slime Science, allowing you to selectively automate parts of the ranching experience! Our goal with drones is to somewhat reduce the amount of manual work required to keep your ranch running while still retaining the spirit of the game we have now.

Drones will also likely be a considerable investment, similar to teleporters as their value to the experience is high.

Weekly Rewards
Similar to our Wiggly Wonderland event, a rotating stock of weekly rewards will be offered to ranchers who know how to hunt down those hidden crates across the range.

v1.4.0 - Viktor's Experimental Update
Viktor's Slime-ulations
Join Viktor Humphries in the pursuit of knowledge and test out his Slime-ulations: experiments aimed at acquiring valuable data in a virtual, hypothetical environment that's- well really it's very complicated science-y stuff that we'll explain once you start. Just know that you'll be rewarded for your efforts.

Iron Rancher Mode
An exciting new game mode that adds a replay-able, survival-like experience to Slime Rancher! Aimed at veteran ranchers who have cleared Adventure Mode and seek an increased challenge, the Iron Rancher Competition has you racing against the clock to collect quotas of various plorts across multi-day rounds. However, each round offers unique challenges and remixed rules that greatly changes the standard Slime Rancher experience. Vampiric chickens? Whaaaa?
