Regarding the English language phrasing, Slime Rancher specifically uses a more conversational tone in the copy present in the game. If you're not a native English speaker, some of the words used and phrasing may indeed seem off as they often air on the side of a American south influences to fit the frontier vibe of the game. As Bloo pointed out, the buzzy bee description makes perfect sense as being 'sweet on' something is a way of saying you like or are fond of something.
Hobson especially utilizes a mild, relaxed, southern dialect to give him an 'old codger' feel in the way he talks. This is very intentional.
Edit: Rereading your original crit, you are correct about the use of the adverb 'anymore' as that tends to relate to time passing. We can certainly make that correction in a future update.
