I love a challenge, so when i was told by the vast community of slime rancher that capturing a gold slime is impossible, i immediately started to think of ways i could do it.
Idea #1 (very unlikely to work)
this one was my first idea and it isn't the best i have but i thought it might be worth sharing anyway.
So, if i were to keep a stock of slimes in my inventory at all times, and when i found a gold slime i would keep a distance away, not too far away, and fire slimes at it so it gets flung in the direction i want it to go, and get it back to a corral with a launch pad by it so it could be flung into a corral with no roof. then you could buy the upgrades for the corral to keep it secure.
Idea #2 (lightly to work)
So, when you smash a crate there is a small chance for it to contain a gold slime. so if i were to carry every crate i found to a corral and smash it inside there, eventually i would have a slime in a corral. the main problem with this would be keeping it in there so it doesn't despawn, which sadly would be impossible. however though if you had a silo with food for it stocked up you could stand just the right distance away and continuously fire food at it and farm gold plorts.
Idea #3 (might work)
This idea is very similar to idea 2 but it could potentially fix the despawning. If you were to fire a crate onto a slime stage and a gold slime was in it, would the slime stay on it? if so this could look really cool for your ranch and to show off to your friends.
these are all experimental ideas which i don't expect to work but i thought that people might like to try this and experiment with the game, get back to me if any of them work!!!1
