Slimes and Mechanics suggestions-Latest: Tree Slime V2

Postby JRH99 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 7:42 am

Hi, i making a new and more organized suggestion thread, i will update with more ideas over time. (SORRY ANY ERROR OR TYPO, I AM STILL LEARNING ENGLISH XD).
=======================================================================================================================================
(Extra) Slime ideias that i am couldn't think into a way to implement in the game.: XD
-Mushroom/fungus slime.

Other Suggestions:
-In my opinion the most important of all , MAKE THE GAME MODDABLE :D
Mechanics suggestions:
-Buffs/debuffs to the player: like Poisoned, slowed, frozen, burned , etc.
-Programmable Auto-feeders,plort collectors. Be possible to configure the time that each one active.
-Slime sickness mechanic; An illness that affect all slimes, making then stop producing plorts (or worse things!). Contagious, but can be cured with a medicine item.
=======================================================================================================================================
Slime Suggestions:
The max amount of attachments is 3, i going to upload the image concepts on Imgur.
The Suggestion are divided in:
-Description: A explanation of the concept.
-Diet: self explanatory.
-Plort value: .
-Rarity: In a scale of 0 to 10, 8 being the Golden slime. And 0 Pink slime.
-Special interations with other slimes: self explanatory. (I try to make slimes that add new mechanics to the game).
-Habitat: The place where the X type of slime can spawn.
-Risks: self explanatory.
-Image of the Slime (paint lvl 10 :D). I apreciate art contributions :3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Parasite Slime:
-Description: A small white slime that attach itself to any slime (and its color become the same of the host). The host slime cannot become a largo (and don't even show interest in eating other plorts!) and now produces two plorts (one from the host and one from the parasite). The parasite slime can be removed giving a X item do the host slime. She needs a host to live, or in few seconds (10~30) she dies. Parasite slimes can't attach to a Tarr slime.
-Diet: The parasite slime survive from absorving the nutrients of the host, but in this process she become a 'mini' version of the slime.
-Plort value: The same of the Host slime.
-Rarity: 7.
-Special interations with other slimes: Attach itself to all normal slimes and become a mini version of the host. Can't attach to largos due their complex DNA D:
-Habitat: Any place.
-Risks: The host slime cannot become a largo, she dies of don't find a host in few seconds.
-Image of the Slime: http://imgur.com/wNUq7mO . (Awesome artwork by Wonda).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Bigo Slime (accepting new name suggestions XD):
-Description: A big transparent slime (still thinking on how big, but i think a bit bigger than a Gordo is the best size) that eats plorts of all types, the more she eats the bigger she grows in size until she explodes dropping all the eaten plorts (the eaten plorts appear inside her transparent body, and over time she absorbs then, she only explodes if eat a lot of plorts in a short period of time).
-Diet: All types of plorts.
-Plort value: don't have a plort of its own, but drop all eaten plorts when explode (OR a special plort with default value of 100, what you think about this people?).
-Rarity: 9. Very rare :D
-Special interations with other slimes: Still thinking on what happen when a Tarr slime shows up...XD
-Habitat: Any place.
-Risks: Eats all plorts and can be a problem if the player want to collect then, and when she explodes with more than 3 types of plorts, pray to don't have any largos near...
-Image of the Slime: http://imgur.com/m86l4Dn .

Bigo Slime VERSION #2:
Diferences from the v1: Instead of ''exploding'' and droping something, after a X amount of plorts eaten and growth in size, Bigo slime produce its own special Plort and Return to its default size/no plorts. The value of the plort would be something like 100~300. The smaller the tier of the plort eaten , faster it is ''digested''. (Pink plorts would take few seconds).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Mud Slime:
-Description: A common slime made of slime+mud, she leaves a trail of mud (that dissapear after some time) that slows anything that touches it. One slime alone don't cause much disorder, but a lot of then will turn the place into a complete mess! They love to eat veggies and rest on mudpits producing plorts over time when resting on a mudpit).
-Diet: Veggies.
-Plort value: 30.
-Rarity: 4 (same of a rock slime).
-Special interations with other slimes:.
-Habitat: Swamy areas, Jungles (with mudpits!).
-Risks: Mess all the place with mud making everything slow.
-Image of the Slime: http://imgur.com/0GdtrlY (imagine a continuous ''waterfall'' effect on the slime).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Poisonous Slime:
-Description: A common slime, she is purple, produces lots of mucky bubbles (you can see the bubbles forming inside her! green and purple ones), and most important, she is very poisonous and territorial to other slimes, due to its nature she can't naturaly become a largo (cause no other slime can come in their area D:). Their touch and bubbles can poison the player. Their bubbles stay for some time in the enviroment. They only attack the player if he try to capture one of their own D:, and the bubbles are a problem. (family is everything :3).
-Diet: Fruits or a new food group. (A new fruit item that are poisonous to other slimes).
-Plort value: 60 or 80.
-Rarity: 4 (but they have their own area).
-Special interations with other slimes: They are aggresive to other slimes, and can ever offer some resistance to Tarrs (but they still much stronger than the Poisonous slimes).
-Habitat: A own jungle/swamp area. Something like a jungle valley.
-Risk: They are dangerous to the player and other slimes, and can only become a largo if the player shot a plort at them. Attack the player if he do something to them.
Image of the slime: (wow probably my most elaborated slime with the worst art XD). http://imgur.com/T9Mxc7N .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tree Slime:
Description: A big slime with very curious caracteristics, she is green and have a big Tree on the top of their head! she eats fruits, and the fruit she eaten starts growing in the tree! fruit eater slimes LOVE her and follow her all the time!. She hates Tarrs cause besides trying to eat them they make their fruits rot T_T. She cannot be vacuuned (is this the right term? XD) , but if you want one you need to carry her all the way :D. Also she only produces fruits during the day (and they love sunlight, cause during the night she sleeps and don't produce any fruit). After a few ''harvests'' she enter on a ''rest'' state and don't eat any fruit for several hours.
-Diet: Fruits. Only after the ''rest'' state (the process of creating fruits consumes a lot of energy :D).
-Plort Value: She don't produce plorts, but she produces fruits!!!
-Rarity: 7, a uncommon slime.
-Special interations with other slimes : Slimes that eat fruits will stack around her.
-Habitat: Jungles, forests, wet places with lots of fruits!
-Risks: They are friendly, adorable and very usefull slimes, but if you want one , you will need to carry her all the way to the ranch, and she NEED sunlight to produce fruits! and she can't become a Largo.
Image of the slime: I think i getting better at drawing in paint XD http://imgur.com/LJX3o3d .

Tree Slime VERSION #2:
Differences from the original idea: Now the tree in the top o her head is ''slimy'' and have ''slots''. each eaten fruit will fill one slot with a small fruit or plort, she only drops if all the items (a ''harvest'') when all slots are filled. She Still need sunlight or the empty slots will close. And she still atracts the other slimes. After each harvest the slots will close for some time , but she will still eat fruits. Tars will only rot the fruits and not the plorts.
Plort Value: 30~80.
Diet: She eats fruits, but she don't eats their own fruit!!! (because this would be a bit... strange @_@).
Image of the slime: (Please imagine the ''tree'' much bigger XD). http://imgur.com/MUdIl1H .

Wait why would you need to cook? The player doesn't need to eat. And I think the Tree slime should be watered everyday or the fruits will stop growing. And another problem with it is that it's going to eat the fruits that they produce. So you won't have to feed them but you won't get anything either.
Sometimes I may be blunt, but it's for your own good.

-Add hunger to and foods that add special effects :V.
Now i tough into a way to solve the exploit XD I think only sunlight is enough to keep her happy (its like the opposite of night time slimes).

To the idea that the game should be moddable: I aggree because why not? I think there is no reason why it shouldn't become moddable. ^^

JRH99 wrote:-Add hunger to and foods that add special effects :V.

I wouldn't want the game to be about caring for the protagonist itself. In it's main concept the game isn't really a survival game and already the name of the game already tells that you have to ranch slimes, not to be a survival specialist.
Especially because the main character could buy all the food she wanted by the money she earns as a farmer. Why would she ever have problems with getting food for herself? That would be the first thing she would ever buy before even starting to travel to her workplace on the far-off planet. And as the market shows the game plays in a future where it definitely is possible to trade wares through space in a matter of seconds.
So I don't see why there should be a system that adds hunger and the need of cooking.

If you could somehow cook in the game then I would only like recipes that help at the ranch, not the player itself, for example for healing the poisoned Slimes.
But I don't see that much use in a cooking mechanic. The only effect I have in mind that this mechanic could have is curing negatice effects on Slimes (because I wouldn't want that the player can cook something for her-/ himself as I already mentioned). And if that is everything then you wouldn't need a whole new mechanic for that.

To the "Bigo Slime" idea: I also had the idea of a slime that saves plorts inside it's body to set them free in certain situations and thereby cause a new level of threat to the ranch.
But somehow the "Bigo Slime" idea is too specialized on that one thing. In my opinion every slime should do more than only exactly one thing (which is in that case eating plorts to set them free by an explosion as soon as it ate a certain amount of it).
The "Bigo Slime" doesn't produce anything, doesn't eat for any other reason than saving the plorts inside of it's body and doesn't do anything else than just being a threat.
In my opinion if we want a slime that is nothing more than a threat there could just immediately spawn a Tarr instead. Implementing a new Slime that has the same effect would absolutely not pay off for the invested time.
The idea of the "Bigo Slime" needs something more to it than that, even though the idea of a Slime saving plorts inside of itself doesn't sound bad.

Same I think about the "Tree Slime": A really interesting idea but it doesn't have more to it than just that one thing: Growing fruits on its head.
It doesn't produce any plorts, is no threat to anyone and doesn't become a largo. It should be changed on a way that makes it do different things in different situations like every other Slime in the game instead of only that single mechanic.

You really have good points , thank you for the feedback :)
-About cooking, really i totally agree with your points, instead of a ''cooking mechanic'', making a item mechanic that interacts with my other ideia of buffs/debuffs (poisoned, frozen, etc), like a antidote, things like that.

- I proposed a alternative mechanic for Bigo slime trying to make she useful. (Bigo slime Mechanic B), i think this one is much better than just being a problem.

-About the tree slime, now i thinking into having one rule ''all slimes must produce one plort or be a complete threat''. I still thinking in her mechanic, now its just ''Very usefull but have a long ''cooldown'' to be usefull again''. I trying to figure a way to put a plort on the middle of that.
While writing this one idea came to my mind:
-Tree slime, now the tree in the head have a ''slimy'' style, the tree produces 6~8 items per harvest, (she only drops the items when the ''slots are all filled'') her ''tree'' will have slots, wich will generate a unic fruit from her (a green fruit with yellow dots, something like that >.<), and some of them have a chance of generating a plort. Each eaten fruit will fill a slot (with a small fruit/plort :D). Plort value 30~80''. Still thinking if she have a cooldown time after giving a ''harvest''.
New concept: (please imagine the ''tree'' a bit bigger XD).

We can understand what you're saying quite well. And don't worry about the mistakes, they're not really that important :P
