I think the next "character exploration" update (only name I could think of for those) could be BOb. That would be entertaining. He just barely manages to get the message for you to come to a teleporter to him through starmail and then he just speaks horrible English on the range exchange. Most of which is him saying "chickens" then you head off to an island where you collect a special type of chicken but there is one issue. There are LOADS of meat eating slimes there and you have to get the chickens before they do. And the rest I don't really know. The Slime Rancher team can add whatever change whatever just whatever. I can't really think of anything else. I'm not good at this stuff. Maybe he accidentally reveals that he is just a bunch of pink slimes or something. Except he isn't loads of pink slimes so that wouldn't make sense. He is BOb. He is a real person who likes chickens. Chickens are good. Chicken ok. Chicken chicken ok? ok ok chicken.

I personally think BOb's update should add the vampiric chickens that you need to collect for him.

It was shelved in favor of content that would be more exciting and in line with the game.
