I don't blame you for not liking negativity, but i feel like you should acknowledge both sides of the coin here.

I understand that some people out there completly hate Undertale for things completly unrelated to the game itself, and are pretty cringeworthy.

But i'd like to handle this calmly.

That's why I suggested to maybe make a thread where you can discuss why you don't like Undertale with other people who also don't like it, that way we won't have any arguing in the threads meant for people who enjoy the game ^^

I'll say Undertale's okay at the risk of igniting a flame war, but that's only because underneath all the sugar coating, it's actually pretty dark.

HOWEVER, their concept of a SOUL does synchronize nicely with the Kingdom Hearts definition of the Heart and the Heart aspect of Homestuck, so that's something to think about.

Oh, and the Temmie race. You feel... something.

Don't worry mate, i'm pretty sure there are only 2-4 people in this section of the forums that dislike Undertale and/or it's community (myself included), and i always try my best to not go overboard with it.
Give your opinions freely. Noone's stopping you.

I kinda agree. The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that there's Undertale stuff EVERYWHERE i go, even if it's not related in any way. (And yes, i know that that problem is only me being whiny, but if i could change it, it wouldn't annoy me)


The second worst part, is that they see the game as a gift from a god, if not a god itself, and they deny, if not try to destroy any negative critics.


And to pour salt into the wound, i personally didn't like the game, so to me it looks like everyone is giving undeserved praise to a boring game (But again, this is problably just me being whiny)



I'm not saying the entire community is horrible. I've met some real nice people that were fans of Undertale, or people that reacted to negative criticism in a calm and understanding fashion.

Ok. I personally like Undertale but to re iterate what was said to by lots the fanbase kid of scares me...but I love the ideas and concept of the game the raw emotion in can provoke at times. Also, if anyone would like to give a reason they LIKE Undertale and a reason the DISLIKE Undertale I think that might be a good thing for this tread but then again you could not and that would be fine.

I'll represnt the negative.

Gameplay:

The game falsely claims it's a turn-based RPG; Using the RPG aspect to attack enemies too much makes it become laughably easy, and the only way to make the experience decently challenging is to not fight enemies, esencially making the RPG aspect completely pointless.

Pointless boss fights: All the boss fights boil down to either 1 shot killing them, or doing an endurance run. For a turn-based game that is a grave mistake.

Too simple bullet-hell segments: Bullet hell segments are just dodging stuff, with added twists only under specific boss fights.

Too short: The game can be completed in under a day.

Easy puzzles: For being an important plot point the puzzles sure are easy.

I give the gameplay section a 6/10, since the bullet hell segments can be kinda fun sometimes, but i would rather play Nuclear Throne or The Binding Of Isaac.


Storyline (SPOILERS AHOY, SCROLL DOWN AND DON'T READ ANYTHING IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE GAME)


Overall story: I personally didn't like it, but that's all about tastes.

Unrelatable main character: The main character expresses WAY too little emotion, and has so little impact on the plot it makes it seem as if it's a cardboard cutout that everone pretends it's a real being.

Repetitive and predictable: It uses the Big Damn Heroes trove way too much. It becomes predictable.

Anoying running gags: The community doesn't help it. I can't use the term "spaghetti" in the internet anymore without running into anoying references.

Mediocre humor: Some of it got a laugh out of me, but the average enemies go for a more "random" type of humor, wich i personally didn't like. Again, it's all tastes.

Bad villans: Flowey and Chara, Chara mainly, are some of the worst villains i've ever seen (taking into consideration their motives for wanting to stop the "hero" from it's objective. Chara literally has noone)

Unability to relate: The fact that the main character shows SO LITTLE INPUT completly ruined the experience for me, as i couldn't relate to my game-real life medium, esencially seeing the whole plot as a game, wich is grave when telling a story.

Overall: The game itself is OK, i wouldn't buy it, but i can see why people like it.
The community, on the other hand, is f*****g terrible and irritating, but it isn't the game's fault is it.


TL:DR: Boring gameplay, i was unable to sink in the storyline due to a lack of input of the main character, and an awful community.
