Actually, I believe the original R line and the F line both eat them.

That probably wasn't that good of an idea to evolve it like that.
One, E has no predators, so it's pointless there. Two, the older tail would have likely been better at killing prey due to the fact that the shape of it allows it to more easily keep the prey still if it hits. Meanwhile, with the new tail the prey would be less injured due to the shorter spikes and would probably have a better chance at escaping. To be fair though neither of them won't really do much towards prey anyway considering how short the tails are.
