Event Idea: Weather

This is a minor idea I came up with.

Weather!

Here are the types:

Clear

The usual type of weather. It also is exactly the same as the regular weather we have now.

Rain

Rain is a weather type that causes a few things:
1. Puddle slimes can survive outside of ponds.
2. Puddle slimes will spawn outside of ponds
3. No tabby or hunter slimes will spawn

It occurs in the Ranch, Dry reef, Indigo quarry, Moss blanket, Wilds, and Ancient ruins.

Thunder

Thunder is a variant of rain, with a few twists:
1. Lightning will strike from the sky.
2. Lightning strikes will hurt you.
3. No slimes will spawn.

It occurs in the same areas as rain does.

Fog

Fog makes everything misty and only occurs at night. This is what happens:
1. Phosphor slimes spawn frequently
2. Everything is almost obstructed
3. Tarr appear frequently!

It occurs in any area, except oases in the glass desert.

Blackout

Blackout is the worst of them all.
1. You cannot see without the flashlight
2. Tarr spawn frequently
3. Only occurs at night, and if more than 30 days have passed.
4. Higher chance to see a gold or lucky slime!

Blackouts occur everywhere, even in oases.

Snow

Snow is cold and cool.
1. Snow appears on the ground
2. Slimes are extra bouncy
3. You can gather snowballs!

It occurs in the Ranch, dry reef and Indigo quarry.

Wind

Wind moves and blusters.
1. Slightly moves you when you're not moving
2. Slimes will blow by the wind
3. The Weathercock will show you what direction the wind is blowing.

It occurs everywhere.

Thats it! I hope you like it!

Weather already exists in the game's code as a leftover from the prototypes. Only the rain option exists and it only has a visual effect.

It might come back in a future update, though that hasn't been confirmed yet.

This is a good idea, I kinda hope the devs finish the unfinished weather system in the code.

Also, not trying to self-promote, but a thunderstorm would make a perfect spawn event for the Zap Slime I created :3

I kind of want a weather update suddenly. The effects of the weather make it seem realistic. Really great idea btw.

I’m with the two above, although I’ve got my own slime idea that would work with the thunder storm one...

I like the Stormcaller Slime too, also a great idea for a thunderstorm spawn.

I was in a bit of a rush when I made the first post, so here's some more weather!
Also, here's something new...
Rarity!
It determines how rare an event will be.

Already existing rarities:
Clear: Common
Rain: Common
Thunder: Uncommon
Fog: Rare
Blackout: Rare
Snow: Rare
Wind: Common

So, here's some more weather!

Tide
There are two types of tides, High tide and Low tide. Each of them are Rare.
High Tide:
1. The slime sea will cover Low areas
2. Slimes will not spawn in covered areas
3. Falling in the tides will still hurt you!

Low Tide:
1. The slime sea will lower to reveal hidden areas
2. Slimes will spawn in uncovered areas
3. Maybe there will be treasure pods down there...?
They occur everywhere, but most prominent in the Dry Reef.
In both Tides, Pump Items appear frequently, but only in the dry reef.

Blizzard
Blizzards are a rare event. They are Rare.
1. Snow blocks your vision.
2. Ice makes you slip.
3. Maybe new slimes will spawn?
They occur in the same places as snow.

Quake
A volatile event. They are rare.
1. Drill items will spawn occasionally.
2. Slimes will always be scared
3. Rocks will spawn and they hurt the rancher!
They only occur in the Indigo Quarry.

Bloom
A beautiful sight. They are Rare.
1. All the trees and bushes will have flowers (in the area)
2. Honey slimes appear frequently.
3. Apiary items spawn occasionally.
It only occurs in the Moss blanket.

Echo Wave
A curious sight to behold. It is Rare.
1. Echos spawn much more often.
2. Quantum slimes spawn more often.
They only occur in the Ancient Ruins.

Sandstorm
A terrible event. It is Rare.
1. Dervish slimes spawn frequently.
2. Sand blocks your vision.
3. Desert science items appear occasionally.
It only occurs in the Glass Desert.

Eruption
Run from the Lava! It is Rare.
1. Fire appears on land.
2. Fire slimes spawn (but only after visiting the glass desert)
3. Slimes will be scared.
It occurs in the wilds.

Meteor
Boom! This event is Rare.
1. Meteors rain from the sky.
2. Slimes will be scared.
3. Perhaps an opportunity for the meteor slime?

Rainbow.
Ahh! It is common.
1. A rainbow appears in the sky.
2. Lucky slimes have a slightly higher chance to spawn.
It occurs everywhere.

Thanks for support!

the meteor i could see coming in if they return to the meteor slime, the others i can see being fun but maybe for the eruption make it so a pre req for the event is unlocking the glass desert. also the event with the black out im not sure how well that would work with the shaders.

Make it so snowballs can get rid of Tarr in one hit, like a stronger version of water (and not be stored in silos for balance reasons). However, it would take a storage slot and would be only refillable when it's snowing :D
