You should make it so you can go into the slime sea ( and NOT die!) Here are the things that I think would be there:

Octo-slime: is able to grab items and other slimes with tentacles, can change color.

Jelly : can sting!

Angooler: has plort shaped lantern to attract players.

The slime sea is meant to act like an impenetrable barrier around the world. Being able to go into it defeats the purpose of it. With the latest update we actually got an area under the slime sea though ;)

I actually did a post about an aquatic area before. There are ways to carve out a place allowed for the character.

Personally, I would love a true underwater area.

I agree big time! I dream of what lurks below the Slime Sea and when/if Beatrix will ever be able to reach it. I think a Scuba upgrade to the VacPack would be simple enough and super cool to implement!!

I think lore-wise, the Slime Sea is meant to be where all the slime cells get mixed into new slimes.

It's a slime bath

if they have an update like that you would probably only be able to go in certain areas of the slime sea (like the docks) or have to get an update that has like a glass container so you can go too far into the slime sea*

*maybe the glass container could be from the 7zee rewards, but maybe not.
